February 28, 2019 By Malaga Travel Team

San Pedro de Alcántara is a coastal down on the beautiful Costa del Sol, home to many superb beaches, fantastic golf courses, luxurious houses, top-brand boutiques, intriguing history, diverse culture and much more. If you are planning a holiday to Málaga and thinking of visiting San Pedro de Alcántara, take a look at our helpful area guide to find out more before you travel.

How to Get There?

San Pedro de Alcántara is just a few minutes’ drive from Puerto Banús and  65 kilometres from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. It is close to the picturesque Sierra de Ronda mountain range and attractive Guadalmina beachside luxury urbanisation. The town of San Pedro is easily accessible by car along the N340 coastal highway, as well as the AP7 toll road. Frequent bus routes are also available.

Beaches in San Pedro

If you like sandy beaches and relaxing in the sun, you are in luck. San Pedro de Alcántara is home to over two kilometres of great beaches – including San Pedro, Linda Vista and Guadalmina – all of which are conveniently accessible. The beaches are watched over by lifeguard towers during the main holiday months, and are a wonderful place to soak up some sunshine. If you fancy something a bit more exciting, you can also rent a jet ski or visit one of the chiringuitos and beach bars all the way along the delightful, tree-lined boulevard.

History and Culture

San Pedro de Alcantara

There is also plenty to see and do in San Pedro’s town centre. It is rich in history and culture with many stunning historic sites close to the town including the third century Roman baths. There is also a colonial style church in the heart of San Pedro de Alcántara which was constructed by the Marqués del Duero in 1866. The church is situated near the central plaza, an excellent place to enjoy a walk and explore the shops, cafés and bars.
